40 Years of Advocacy: Celebrating the California Restaurant Association’s Foundation and Industry Impact
The California Restaurant Foundation (CRF) turns 40 this month! That’s four decades of helping the restaurant industry and employees in The Golden State succeed. The CRF is the extension of the California Restaurant Association (CRA) that funds scholarships, training and opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders in this vital industry, and supports restaurant employees when times are tough.
EMPLOYERS® is proud to aid in and celebrate these efforts and this milestone alongside the CRA. The restaurant industry is a real community, where business owners and advocates have a strong sense of shared responsibility for each others’ successes. That communal heartbeat has powered the California Restaurant Foundation for the past 40 years, and is why the Foundation’s work includes Restaurants Care, which provided a safety net for restaurant employees impacted by the pandemic slowdown. The CRF keeps an eye on the industry’s future as well, with a college scholarship fund and the ProStart culinary arts training program for high school students.
As America’s small business insurance specialist, EMPLOYERS® has partnered with the California Restaurant Association for more than 14 years. The CRF has been actively providing scholarships and advocacy aid, funding restaurant pandemic relief, offering guidance and resources, and much more. We plan to continue supporting the CRF’s mission for decades to come. The foundation’s wonderful education and relief programs bring more talent into the industry while supporting current workers when things go badly. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute in ways that makes a real impact.
“On behalf of the entire EMPLOYERS organization, our congratulations to the California Restaurant Foundation on their 40th anniversary,” said Wayne Hilston, vice president at EMPLOYERS. “We have witnessed firsthand the tireless effort the California Restaurant Foundation has undertaken on behalf of the restaurant and hospitality industry and its workers. We are proud to be part of such an organization through our support of Restaurants Care and ProStart, and look forward to continuing to be a champion of CRF’s mission in the years to come!”
